Whole wheat baking

My mom bought a grain mill a month ago along with a bucket of wheat and a bosch mixer.  I am saving up for some of my own, but in the meanwhile I am using her's.  I am trying to move away from junk food and feed my family more whole grains and healthy foods.  I have been researching, and much of what we buy in the grocery store is not food.  This wheat is fresh and has all of the nutrients of whole grain.  It is tasty too!

This is what I mixed up today.  I used the whole wheat dough to make bread and cinnamon rolls

I did put some icing on the cinnamon rolls.  The filling is made with sucanat instead of brown sugar, so it is more healthy.  We have already tried it and the kids said they were good.  I can't wait to get my own grinder.

Super Bowl

I am not much of a football fan and neither are the kids. We went to night church and come home in time to see the halftime show. We are just snacking and hanging out now. Big fun I know.

Our usual Sunday routine is to go to 8:30 church and then Sunday school. We then come home and cook lunch. We almost always grill out and have hamburgers and hotdogs with homemade fries. Usually we bring a friend or two home and they might hang out in the afternoon and then we go back to night church. I don't cook at night but we just snack. I do often make muffins and granola bars to snack on. We then go back to night church. Here is my van full on the way back to church for evening service.

We normally have a relaxing low key Sunday and that is how I like it.

Snow

Now I know that if you live in the Midwest or northern parts of our country then you would not get very excited about snow, but around here in central Georgia we rarely get snow.  So this past week when we got three inches and school was closed for three days, we really enjoyed it.

Here is everyone heading out to go sledding.  Yes we used the top to a plastic container to sled on.  We don't have sleds in Georgia.

This is what our property looked like in the snow.  I thought it was beautiful.

This was the first time that we have had snow in about three years.  Unfortunately we do have to make up the missed days from school.  We don't have any snow plows or any way to clear the roads when it snows here.  Add that to the fact that we get a lot of ice with our snow then it is just safer to stay at home.  There were so many accidents in the Atlanta area that people were out on the roads all night.  No thank you!  We just stay home!  Now hopefully we will have a normal week this week coming up.  Steven is going out of town, so I have to do all of the running.  Soccer practice, dance, club meetings, church, and I am already tired thinking about it!  I better get a nap tomorrow.
